A Brilliant Baby Shower

Today I am not introducing you to a Project, Tutorial or a How-To, instead I am showing you a great article that I found on Bump Smitten about a brilliant Baby Shower. I hope you find some great ideas. Enjoy.

Here is an adorably designed baby shower from Natalie Papaj of All Buttoned-Up Event Planning. Love the color palette -- yellow, orange, blue and green -- as well as the modern polka-dot "POP" design seen in the invitations, cupcake toppers, food & drink labels, etc. Thank goodness she knew to pair up with Jess Radlich of Jess Creates for not only the graphic design but also the photography. SUPERB!

From Natalie... As owner of All Buttoned-Up events, I knew I could only call on one person to collaborate with and host a shower that would be exquisite – Jessica Radlich of Jess Creates. It’s hard for an event planner to totally lose control of the reigns, but Jess was able to pull off a few surprises to keep me on my toes!

We wanted to do something fun and light by incorporating the colors and Michael Miller fabric from the nursery with the “about to pop” theme to create a vibrant party for our guests. We pulled circle garland from a DIY Bump Smitten post and hung it from both entryways. We sprinkled the remaining garland pieces to decorate the tables. The about to pop sign hung in the balcony of the foyer and welcomed guests along with the vintage pram, a family heirloom, used to hold the gifts.

To share our inspiration with our guests, "the about to pop” theme was carried through to the decorations and activities. To keep the upbeat mood, guests mingled to a mix of pop music through the decades while decorating onesies with fabric paint, iron-on decals and Michael Miller fabrics. The music lightened up the mood and brought everyone back to their favorite pop song. From the Temptations to New Kids On the Block, everyone had a laugh out-loud time belting out the lyrics they could remember!

The homemade cake pops to match the nursery colors doubled as centerpieces and a sweet treat after the meal. The Mommy-to-be’s rustic office furniture provided the perfect place for the desert table and bar. Vintage flavored soda pops wrapped in Michael Miller fabric fastened with a diaper pin complemented the bloody mary and champagne bar.

Guests popped the bubbly and toasted the Mommy-to-be over a fabulous brunch. While munching away, guests competed in a pop quiz and pop stars baby picture game. The guests were invited to take home cake pops from the centerpieces as well as bundle of lollipops adorned with a tag that read “Thanks for popping by!”.

The shower was held at the home of the Mom-to-Be in Bristow, VA on January 10, 2011.The proud parents welcomed Carson Papaj, a healthy and cheerful baby boy on Feb. 10, 2011; and are just smitten with him. Enclosed are his 5 month photos – we think his personality goes hand-in-hand with our jovial theme.
